Before hockey fans come to love their favorite superstars in the NHL, these players start out as young teenagers playing in highly competitive junior hockey leagues. As junior hockey prospects, these young hockey players travel from small town to small town, usually playing for years in junior leagues as they work their way toward the ultimate goal of the NHL. As players move through the ranks, the best players continue to grow their abilities and skills while working their way onto pro hockey scouts' radars. These are the players that are considered prospects and are seen as eventually growing into solid NHL hockey players. There are many different junior hockey leagues throughout North America and Europe where these prospects play. There are hot prospects playing at various levels, from 15 and 16-year-olds at prep schools to the top levels of minor league hockey.
